Audio 310

#1 Beitrag von Reinder » 16.04.2014, 12:05

Gutentag,

Entschuldigung fur meinen slechtes Deutsch, therefore I have to type this message in English. Again I am very sorry, but I really want to ask my question on this forum.

Yesterday my recently bought Audio 310 arrived. I had it transported, unfortunately it was damaged during transport. The most important damage is the cap of the phono-arm which contains the needle. It was bend and is unable to play. Can I get it fixed or do I need to buy another one? How can I get another one? Is there someone who can help me with one or do I have to buy another complete 310 to use a spare part donor?

Second question is that the mechanics (motor?/gears?) of the phonotable make a humming sound (inside the machine, not on speakers) while turning it on 33 rpm. This humming is absent while turning on 16/45/76 rpm. Is this a familiar problem? Since I do not have any experience with opening these kind of machines I am very reserved in dismanteling it.

Thank you very much for your help, and again apologies for my English message.

Greetings,

Reinder from Holland

Hello Reinder,
the cap (=headshell) is made from thin aluminium sheet metal and I would expect that you can bend it back ito the original position. You have to to it carefully of course and you can not expect highly exact angularity in this case. On the other hand in most cases headshells of this age are no longer perfect with respect to this. If you post a photograph, it would be easier to judge the damage and to give additional advice.
The motor is running always at the same rpm and the turntable rpm is changed using an axle with different diameters, which is moved in axial direction and drives a rubber wheel. Thus the sources of the humming can be expected to be purely mechanical.

Best Regards
Gerhard

Hello Gerhard (and others),

Thank you for your reply. I already tried to bend it back carefully, and it looks like to be in reasonable position. There is only problem now, the point where the connector enters the headshell there is now "möglich sich zu bewegen". So the headshell moves while playing, off course this is not good.

Damaged headshell:

Set-up (with my speakers):

Because I would like the 310 to be in most mint-condition (and I think before the damage it was) I would like to have a non-damaged or bend headshell. Is there someone where I can buy one from?
