Braun Audio 1 M Recordplayer

#1 Beitrag von Mathias bastiaensen » 11.07.2013, 22:16

Hello,

i'm sorry to do this in english, but my german really isn't good enough...

I recently bought a Braun Audio 1 M anlage on ebay,
but in shipping it got quite a beating,
the cover got broken near the right hinge,
and pressed on the tonearm (the needle and weight only)
So now the needle is busted, even the wires connecting the cardrige came completely off
and the metal parts came loose from the plastic housing.

I really want to restore it, but don't know what to do best,
should i have someone solder the wires back on,glue the metal plates back
and find a replacement cartridge, or is it better to completely replace the housing unit?

In both cases i'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for the correct parts to use?
For the needle i'm guessing a shure (type?) needle would be best, since the original one is a shure M77?

Al tips are welcome, and if someone needs pictures, i think i can provide them.

Also, there is no light, is this broken or doesn't the Audio 1 M have any lights?

kind regards,

Mathias

Also,
tips for 'welding' the plexi are really welcome,
the cleaner the result the better of course.

Hello Mathias,
photos will be helpfull.
The Audio 1M has two bulbs under the aluminium cover plate between the upper and lower display. You have to remove all knobs and unscrew the cover plate. This is usually a good opportunity also to clean everything inside.
It should not be a difficult problem to restore the headshell. Using another headshell will be difficult, since the connector looks similar to a standard SME-type connector, but is different. A simple replacement needle compatible with the original Shure cartridge should be sufficient (costs between 10 and 20 €).

Best Regards
Gerhard
