Tonearm Friction

#1 Beitrag von Ljud Ankan » 16.01.2017, 09:59

Hi Everybody!
Meine Deutsh ist nicht so gut so ich hoffe meine fragen und schrieben in English für Sie ist OK !

I'm new at this forum and I've recently bought my first (hiFi)Braun Item - the HiFi set P400X

I've a questions about the tonearm - I've noticed there are some resistance while moving it horizontally. I've downloaded the service instruction for the PS 400 Plattenspieler which I think is the same machine as in the P400X. I couldn't read anything about this friction or resistance. But when adjusting the height of the tonearm I loosend the adjustment nut and screw on the underside. - While loose the friction seemed to disappear. But when re-thigtening the looking nut- it went back!

My question is, is it normal, should there be some kind of "dynamic damping" in order to make the Pickup perform more sufficient? Despite the friction it was possible playing a record with a normal needle pressure , 2g. (Shure M75 MB) ?

Mit Freudlichen Grüssen
